Automatic Discovery And Provisioning
Regardless of the device protocol, AggreGate always does its best to minimize the amount of manual work required for connecting new devices. Most communication protocols support some discovery mechanisms which AggreGate Server tries to hook into, and thus lets you connect most devices in "plug-and-play" style.
Here is a list of applicable discovery and provisioning methods:
- Network scanning (host-by-host polling).
- Discovery of network-enabled hardware controllers in a local network segment by broadcast.
- Automatic configuration of discovered controllers for communication with AggreGate Server.
- Automatic creation of server-side device accounts and permissions setup.
- Optional periodic background auto-discovery and auto-connection.
- Reading of available device settings, operations and events.
- Remote configuration of controllers that don't have server-side accounts.
- Manual connection of controllers and devices using user-specified IP addresses.
